This is the story of 19-year-old Ashlyn Jennings who lost her best friend and twin sister to leukemia. Her mother sends her to a small town to live with her estranged father and his new family, and on her way their, on the train, she meets a handsome stranger with piercing blue eyes who invites her to see his band play. 💙

They have immediate attraction, but also a deep closeness – because both have a tragic past. After the show they plan to meet again, but before it happens, Ashlyn discovers that Daniel Daniels is her English teacher, Mr. Daniels. (Which is a bit strange, because he's only 22 years old. lol). 💥

📚 “I don’t want to be your friend,” he said. We breathed in together and exhaled in harmony. “I want to be yours, I want you to be mine, and I hate that we can’t be us. Because I think we were meant to be us.” 📚

I enjoyed this book, but two things disappointed me: all the tragedies in the story… and the end, that was too quick (which happens in most of Brittainy's books).
It bothered me that Daniel and Ashley's "forbidden" relationship was not the focus of the book, because most of the drama was related to their families…
There were too many family tragedies (on both sides) and I did not understand in what way they served the story – but most importantly, some of these issues were not resolved at the end of the book at all…
The deaths of family members, drug addiction, alcoholism, bullying, coming out problems… Why the hell did all this happen?? 😱😱😱

📚 “I love you slowly. I love you deeply. I love you quietly. I love you powerfully. I love you unconditionally.” 📚

However, Daniel was an amazing character who managed to get into my heart.
It's a book about loss and pain… about coping and forgiveness… and of course, LOVE. A sweet romance (which didn’t really feel forbidden to me) about 2 people who fell in love with the right people, at the wrong time. 💙💙💙

זהו סיפורה של אשלין ג'נינגס בת ה-19 שאיבדה את חברתה הטובה ואחותה התאומה ללוקימיה. אימה הכואבת שולחת אותה לעיירה קטנה לגור עם אביה המנוכר ומשפחתו החדשה, ובדרכה ברכבת היא פוגשת זר חתיך עם עיניים כחולות חודרות שמזמין אותה לראות את הלהקה שלו מנגנת. 💙

יש ביניהם משיכה מיידית, אך גם קרבה עמוקה – כי שניהם בעלי עבר טרגי.
לאחר ההופעה הם קבעו תאריך לדייט, אך לפני שהוא קרה, אשלין מגלה שדניאל דניאלס הוא בעצם המורה החדש שלה לאנגלית, מר דניאלס. (שזה קצת מצחיק, כי הוא רק בן 22). 💥

מאוד נהניתי, אבל בסופו של דבר שני דברים אכזבו אותי: כל הטרגדיות שהיו בסיפור… והסוף המהיר מידי (מה שקורה ברוב הספרים של בריטני ס' צ'רי).
הפריע לי שהקשר ה"אסור" של מר דניאלס ואשלי לא היה למוקד הספר, כי רוב הדרמה הייתה קשורה למשפחותיהם, וחבל.
היו יותר מדי אירועים וטרגדיות משפחתיות לדמויות המשניות (משני הצדדים) ולא הבנתי באיזו דרך הם שירתו את הסיפור – אבל הכי חשוב, חלק מהנושאים האלו בכלל לא נפתרו בסוף הספר…
מותם של בני משפחה, התמכרות לסמים, אלכוהוליזם, בריונות בתיכון, בעיות של יציאה מהארון וכו… למה לכל הרוחות כל זה הופיע בספר?? 😱😱😱

מה שכן, הדמות של דניאל הייתה מדהימה והוא לגמרי הצליח לרגש אותי.
זה ספר על אובדן וכאב… על התמודדות וסליחה… וכמובן, גם אהבה. רומן מתוק (שלא ממש הרגיש לי אסור) על זוג שהתאהבו באנשים הנכונים, בזמן הלא נכון. 💙💙💙
