BOOK REVIEW: When We Had Forever / Shaylin Gandhi ๐ŸŒฒ

The story opens with Mina reflecting on the death of her husband, Michael, after he was killed in a car accidentโ€”and from there, their story jumps between past and present, showing how they met and fell deeply in love and the incredible moments they shared, up until the pivotal moment when everything changed. That shift happened after a fateful encounter between Michael and his estranged brother, Grayson. After Michael's death, Grayson contacts Mina, helping her piece together the truth about her marriage and the man she thought she loved so deeply.

My thoughts:

I came into this book with such high expectations- the blurb sounded amazing, and the beginning was definitely promising, butโ€ฆ what the hell was that?!?
First of allโ€”โ€œFor fans of Colleen Hoover, Lucy Score, and Mia Sheridanโ€? I have to ask, did the person who wrote that ever actually read a book by any of those authors…? ๐Ÿ˜‚

Despite the intriguing start, I figured out the twist very early on (it was dumb), and from there it just went downhill. I kept listening anyway, despite all the eye rolling, just because I wanted to know how and why everything would unfoldโ€ฆ and damn, that was a mistake!

I wonโ€™t get into the details to avoid spoilers – but seriously? How did the airplane scene make any sense at all? And that button? For a moment I thought I was reading a parody! I kid you not, I laughed so hard, coffee came out of my nose!!!! ๐Ÿ˜‚

All in all, I honestly think this was one of the most ridiculous books Iโ€™ve read in recent years (and Iโ€™ve read a lot of ridiculous books). The writing itself was actually good (so I wouldnโ€™t rule out reading something else by the author in the future), but this one? Weird… illogical… unbelievable. Nothing in this book made sense to me.

I listened to the audio version. ๐ŸŽงย 
Please note that this is just my personal opinion. If you liked the book, that's totally fine! For me, it didn't work.
