I'll start by apologizing to everyone who liked this book (and also the friend who recommended it to me) because it SUCKED! 💩
How bad was it? It's been a month since I heard it, and I still get upset when I think about it. 😂
So what did we have there…?
A girl in college with a traumatic past that causes her to have anxiety attacks and a fear of men… and a possessive and protective man who is unwilling to get into relationships because of his priorities – his tattoo shop and his little sister, whom he cares about more than anything because of their addicted mother. They get to know each other, become friends… but will they be able to overcome the difficulties? 🧡
I'll start by saying that the FMC was unbearable. She was too fragile… and not in an empathetic way, but annoying. In general, it was not clear why she's not in therapy. Everyone knows what she went through. Everyone is there for her and empathetic to her anxiety attacks and fears, but no one convinces her to take care of herself? Like, it's something that will go away on its own?? (Spoiler – it's not, and no man – including this charming tattooed over protective hero, is not the cure) 🙄
I also did not understand the connection between the characters. Grace was insecure, childish, and has low self-esteem… so what did Cal actually find in her??? Well, actually, he's 30 years old and goes to student parties for fun… you could say he's also a bit childish himself 😂😂😂
But the thing I didn't like the most was that Grace said she was raped. This word appeared *a few times* during the audio… her trauma was so deep, I thought she had been violently gang-raped… but then suddenly, in episode 23, she said she was a virgin, asked Cal if it hurt, and if men were disgusted by the bleeding. Ummm… WHAT THE FUCK?!?! 💩
So let me clarify (after going back to check what I missed) – Grace was NOT raped, she was sexually assaulted. It's really NOT the same!!! Make no mistake, sexual assault is serious enough, but there is a huge difference between touching without consent and rape! Why didn't anyone say anything to the author during the editing stage?? And why not edit this book again!?!?! 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
Why… why… WHYYYYYYY?!
All in all, as you understood, I didn't like the book and decided to DNF it in chapter 29 after a stupid drama that hurt my teeth, but if you like friends to lovers books with age gap and you don't have a problem with childish characters, plot holes and also a lack of editing or basic research… You might enjoy it more than I do. 🤷♀️

אני אתחיל ואתנצל בפני כל מי שאהבה את הספר (וגם החברה שהמליצה לי עליו) כי הוא היה פשוט גרוע! 💩
עד כמה גרוע? כבר עבר חודש מאז ששמעתי אותו, ואני עדיין מתעצבנת כשאני נזכרת בו. 😂
אז מה היה לנו שם…?
בחורה בקולג' בעלת עבר טראומטי שגורם לה להתקפי חרדה ופחד מגברים… וגבר רכושני ומגונן שלא מוכן להיכנס למערכות יחסים בגלל סדר העדיפויות שלו – חנות הקעקועים שלו ואחותו הקטנה, לה הוא דואג יותר מהכל בגלל האימא המכורה שלהם. הם מכירים, הופכים לחברים טובים… אבל האם יוכלו להתגבר על הקשיים? 🧡
אתחיל ואומר שגיבורה הייתה בלתי נסבלת. היא הייתה יותר מידי שברירית… ולא ברמה מעוררת אמפתיה, אלא פשוט מעצבנת. ובכלל, לא ברור למה היא לא בטיפול. כולם יודעים מה עבר עליה, כולם שם בשבילה ואמפתיים להתקפי החרדה והפחדים שלה, אבל אף אחד לא משכנע אותה לטפל עצמה? כאילו שזה משהו שיעבור לבד?? (ספויילר – זה לא, ושום גבר – כולל הגיבור המקועקע המקסים והאובר מגונן הזה, הוא לא התרופה) 🙄
גם לא הבנתי את החיבור בין הדמויות. גרייס חסרת ביטחון, ילדותית ובעלת דימוי עצמי נמוך… אז מה בעצם קאל מצא בה??? טוב נו, בעצם, הוא בן 30 ויוצא להנאתו למסיבות סטודנטים… אפשר להגיד שהוא גם קצת ילדותי בעצמו 😂😂😂
אבל הדבר שהכי לא אהבתי בספר, הוא שגרייס מספרת שנאנסה. המילה הזו הופיעה *כמה פעמים* במהלך האודיו… הטראומה שלה הייתה כל כך עמוקה, שכבר חשבתי שעברה אונס קבוצתי אלים… אבל אז פתאום בפרק 23 היא אמרה שהיא בתולה, שאלה את קאל אם זה כואב ואם גברים נגעלים מהדימום. אמממ… מה לעזאזל?!?! 💩
אז תנו לי להבהיר משהו (אחרי שחזרתי אחורה לבדוק מה פספסתי) – גרייס לא נאנסה, היא עברה תקיפה מינית. זה ממש לא אותו הדבר!!! שלא תטעו, תקיפה מינית היא חמורה מספיק בפני עצמה, אבל יש הבדל ענקי בין נגיעה ללא הסכמה לבין אונס! למה אף אחד לא אמר כלום לסופרת בשלב העריכות?? ולמה לא עורכים את הספר הזה מחדש!?!?! 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
למה… למה… למהההההה?!
לסיכום, כמו שהבנתם, לא אהבתי את הספר והחלטתי לנטוש בפרק 29 אחרי דרמה מפגרת לחלוטין שהכאיבה לי בשיניים, אבל אם אתם אוהבים ספרים של מחברים לאוהבים עם פער גילאים ואין לכם בעיה עם דמויות ילדותיות, חורים בעלילה וגם חוסר עריכה או תחקיר בסיסי… אולי תהנו ממנו יותר ממני. 🤷♀️
