In the kingdom of Ilya, the people without powers are considered a threat, and therefore, the king ordered to kill them all. Paedyn is an Ordinary with no powers who lives on the streets as a thief and pretends to be a Psychic in order to fit in with the Elites and stay alive. Until one day, she saves a prince, and her reward is to participate in the annual Purging Trials, along with Kai, the cruel prince whom she saved. This competition is dangerous, especially since she's powerless. Her life is in danger… and so is her heart. 💜
If you haven't heard of this book yet, you probably don't have social media because it was EVERYWHERE! And so, I decided to try… 😂

The corner of his mouth twitches up. "Because every time you don't, it only proves that you don't want to." 📚
What a fun book! The world building, the characters, the banter between them, and even the slow burn were great. Although the plot felt like an imitation of 'The Hunger Games' (only with magic), I definitely enjoyed it, and the ending left me curious. 💜
Despite that, it was fun, but not perfect…
There were parts that were repetitive, all the characters were not developed enough, and there were parts where the editing wasn't good, and I felt like I was reading a first draft. 🙈
Plus, I felt that the plot was built around tropes and not around characters or what happens to them, which was strange (in one of the videos I saw after I finished, the author actually admitted that she wanted all her favorite tropes to appear in her book) 🤷♀️
All in all, it happened again – TikTok made me read this book! I enjoyed it, I was intrigued, and I will definitely read the sequel. 💜

בממלכת איליה, חסרי הכוחות נחשבים לאיום ולכן המלך הורה להרוגם. פאדין היא רגילה ללא כוחות שחיה ברחובות כגנבת ומתחזה למדיום כדי להשתלב בין האליטות ולהישאר בחיים. עד שיום אחד היא מצילה נסיך, והפרס שלה הוא להשתתף במשחקי הטיהור השנתיים, יחד עם הנסיך קאי האכזר אותו הצילה. התחרות הזו מסוכנת, במיוחד כיוון שאין לה כוחות. החיים שלה בסכנה… וגם הלב שלה. 💜
אם לא שמעתם על הספר הזה, כנראה שאין לכם רשת חברתית, כי הוא פשוט היה בכל מקום! אז החלטתי לנסות… 😂

איזה ספר כייפי זה היה! בניית העולם, הדמויות, הריבים ביניהם ואפילו הסלואו ברן היו נהדרים. אמנם הוא הרגיש כמו חיקוי של 'משחקי הרעב' (רק עם קסם), אבל בהחלט נהניתי ממנו, והסוף השאיר אותי סקרנית. 💜
ולמרות זאת, הוא אמנם היה כייפי, אבל לא מושלם…
היו חלקים שקצת חזרו על עצמם, כל הדמויות לא היו מפותחות מספיק והיו חלקים בהם לא הייתה עריכה טובה והרגשתי שאני קוראת טיוטה ראשונית. 🙈
בנוסף, הרגשתי שהעלילה נבנתה סביב טרופים ולא סביב דמויות או מה שקורה להם, וזה היה מוזר (ובאמת באחד הסרטונים שראיתי אחרי שסיימתי, הסופרת הודתה שרצתה שכל הטרופים האהובים עליה יופיעו בספר שלה) 🤷♀️
שורה תחתונה, זה קרה שוב – טיקטוק גרם לי לקרוא את הספר הזה! נהניתי, הסתקרנתי ובהחלט אקרא גם את ההמשך. 💜
