לקריאת הסקירה בעברית – תגללו למטה!
Maeve Campbell and Ledger Abbott were two strangers when they woke up together in a locked room with no memory of how they got there. 😱
The two may be happily married outside the bunker, but inevitably, a special bond forms between them. 💛
They found comfort in each other while their captor, a sadistic psychopath, whom they called "Puppeteer", played physically, psychologically and mentally torturous games with them. 💥
But why exactly were they taken? What is the conaction between them? Why does their captor want to make them suffer so much? Will they be saved? And what will happen to them when they are free…? 💛💛💛

Wow, the author did a wonderful job in writing about the psychological trauma experienced by the characters. The plot was dark and painful yet raw and realistic. What I liked the most, was that every time I thought I knew where the story was going, I was wrong. 💛
Plus, it's a dark book, but it didn't have many horrible descriptions, at least for me… I recommend checking the triggers before reading. 💥
Note that it is a romance, but it almost has no spice (!!!) – personally, I think this is a great choice by the author, because adding of erotic scenes would have made the plot sleazy. 🤷♀️

However, I needed a little "break" from the chapters of their time in the bunker… maybe some flashbacks from before the kidnapping, or even from the kidnapper's eyes, to get to know them and take a break – because it felt like I was reading "the same thing". 🙈
Let's just say that if it was a movie, it was low budget, because most of it was shot in the same setting. 😂
On the other hand, this is also what made it realistic. I felt like I was there with them in that bunker, helpless and not knowing what was going to happen next. 💛
If you liked 'Heartbreak Warfare' or 'Still Beating', I definitely recommend this book. They are NOT quite the same, but I felt there were many points of similarity in the dilemmas the MC's experienced. 💥

All in all, this book definitely made me smile, cry and and I totally lost hours of sleep because of it! 💛
I enjoyed it so much that I decided to read again the author's excellent book, "Stain" (one of the characters appeared in this book too) – I'll post my review on it soon. 👏👏👏
מייב קמפבל ולדג'ר אבוט היו שני זרים כשהתעוררו יחד בחדר נעול בלי שום זיכרון איך הגיעו לשם. 😱
שניהם אולי נשואים באושר (לאנשים אחרים) מחוץ לבונקר, אבל באופן בלתי נמנע, נוצר ביניהם קשר מיוחד. 💛
הם מצאו נחמה אחד בשני בזמן שהחוטף שלהם, פסיכופת וסדיסט, אותו כינו "בובנאי", שיחק בהם משחקים מייסרים פיזית, פסיכולוגית ונפשית. 💥
אבל מדוע דווקא הם נלקחו? מה הקשר ביניהם? מדוע החוטף שלהם כל כך רוצה לגרום להם לסבול? האם יצליחו להינצל? ומה יעלה בגורלם אם יהיו חופשיים…? 💛💛💛

וואו, הסופרת עשתה עבודה נפלאה בכתיבה על הטראומה הפסיכולוגית שחוו הדמויות. העלילה הייתה אפלה וכואבת ועם זאת מנחמת ומציאותית. מה שהכי אהבתי, הוא שבכל פעם שחשבתי שאני יודעת לאן הסיפור הולך, טעיתי. 💛
כמו כן, זה אמנם ספר אפל, אבל לא היו בו הרבה תיאורים קשים, לפחות בשבילי… אבל אני ממליצה לבדוק את הטריגרים לפני הקריאה. 💥
בנוסף שימו לב, זה אמנם רומן, אך כמעט ואין בו ספייס (!!!) – אישית, אני חושבת שזו בחירה מעולה של הסופרת, כי הוספה של סתם סצנות אירוטיות היתה הופכת את העלילה לסליזית. 🤷♀️

ולמרות זאת – היה חסר לי קצת "הפסקה" מהפרקים של הזמן שלהם בבונקר… אולי כמה פרקי פלאשבק מלפני החטיפה, או אפילו מעיניו של החוטף, כדי להכיר אותם יותר ולעשות הפוגה – כי זה קצת הרגיש שאני קוראת את "אותו הדבר". 🙈
בואו נגיד שאם זה היה סרט, הוא היה דל תקציב, כי רובו צולם באותה התפאורה. 😂
מצד שני, זה גם מה שהפך אותו למציאותי. הרגשתי כאילו אני איתם שם בבונקר, חסרת אונים ולא יודעת מה עומד לקרות. 💛
אם אהבתן את 'Heartbreak Warfare' ('מלחמת הלב') או 'Still Beating' ('עדיין פועם'), אני בהחלט ממליצה על הספר הזה. הם לא בדיוק זהים, אבל הרגשתי שהיו הרבה נקודות דימיון מבחינת הדילמות שהגיבורים חוו. 💥

לסיכום, הספר הזה בהחלט גרם לי לחייך, לבכות ולגמרי איבדתי לא מעט שעות שינה בגללו! 💛
עד כדי כך נהניתי, שהחלטתי לקרוא שוב את הספר המעולה של הסופרת, "Stain" (שאחת הדמויות בו גם הופיעה בספר הזה) – אעלה את הסקירה שלו בקרוב 👏👏👏
