Indie has been in love with Milo ever since she was a little girl. He was always there for her, comforting and supporting, especially since she lost her adoptive mother and was left with a monster. Age gap, forbidden love, arranged marriage… what I love most about Jewel E. Ann, is that she can take a trope I've read a million times and turn it into something new… and she did it again! 👏

However, I did have a problem with is the relationship building. Indie and Milo's love was built in a very superficial way and I couldn't fall in love with them, as I always do in this author's books. I understood why she had a crush on him when she was a child, but I couldn't understand why he fell in love with her, someone who was totally like a little sister to him. 🙈
But I think what bothered me the most was the male narrator, because Milo's character was a protective and strong alpha male, but the narrator was so…. not. 🙈
But despite my feelings about the romantic aspect of the story, I was totally invested in this book because of the excellent writing, the developed characters and their backstories, which made this book refreshing and powerful. 💥
The secrets, the struggles, the crazy revelations and twists, the past (and present) traumas caused me so many emotions!!! I wanted to scream. I wanted to cry. I wanted to hurt quite a few characters… I swear there are characters in this book who have joined the list of the greatest villains of all time in romance books. I even finished it with racing heart and a headache from all my teeth grinding and angry tears! 😂
All in all, It's an intense story full of drama and pain about love, sacrifice, freedom and forgiveness – and it will tug at your heartstrings, just like Jewel E. Ann knows best. 💥💥💥
• I listened to the Audiobook, which was fine. The female narrator did a wonderful job, but I didn't like with the male narrator at all, and I think he kind of ruined it for me…

פער גילאים, אהבה אסורה, נישואים מאורגנים… מה שאני הכי אוהבת בג'ול אי אן, הוא שהיא יכולה לקחת טרופ שקראתי מיליון פעמים ולהפוך אותו למשהו חדש… והיא בהחלט עשתה זאת שוב! 👏

מה שפחות אהבתי הוא בניית הקשר הרומנטי בניהם. האהבה של אינדי ומיילו נבנתה בצורה מאוד שטחית ולא הצלחתי להתאהב יחד איתם, כמו שתמיד קורה לי בספרים של הסופרת הזו. הבנתי למה לאינדי היה קראש על מיילו כשהייתה ילדה, אבל לא הצלחתי להבין למה הוא התאהב בה, מישהי שלגמרי הייתה כמו אחות קטנה עבורו. 🙈
אבל אני חושבת שמה שהכי הפריע לי היה הקריין הגברי, כי הדמות של מיילו הייתה גבר אלפא מגונן וחזק אבל הקריין היה כל כך…. לא. 🙈
ולמרות שפחות התחברתי לפן הרומנטי בסיפור, הייתי כל כולי מושקעת בספר הזה, בגלל הכתיבה המעולה, הדמויות המפותחות וסיפורי הרקע שלהם, שהפכו את הסיפור למרענן ועוצמתי במיוחד. 💥
הסודות, ההתמודדויות, הגילויים המטורפים והטוויסטים, טראומות העבר (וההווה) גרמו לי לכל כך הרבה רגשות!!! רציתי לצרוח. רציתי לבכות. רציתי לפגוע בלא מעט דמויות… בחיי שיש בספר הזה דמויות שהצטרפו לרשימת הנבלים הגדולים של כל הזמנים בספרי הרומנטיקה. אפילו סיימתי אותו עם דפיקות לב מואצות וכאב ראש בגלל כל חריקות השיניים ודמעות הכעס שלי! 😂
לסיכום, זה סיפור אינטנסיבי מלא בדרמה וכאב על אהבה, הקרבה, חופש וסליחה – והוא יצבוט לכם את הלב, בדיוק כמו שג'ול אי אן יודעת לעשות הכי טוב. 💥💥💥
