I fell in love with the author's writing after reading "The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo", so when I heard that a movie based on this book would soon be released, I started it with a lot of expectations. 💥
Emma and Jesse, married childhood sweethearts, have been together for almost a decade. But on the eve of their wedding anniversary, he was killed in a helicopter crash and his body was never found. ❤️🩹
Devastated and heartbroken, Emma tries to move on with her life, and reconnects with another childhood friend, Sam, and they fall in love. 😍
Then, three and a half years later, when Emma and Sam are engaged, Jesse suddenly returns and Emma is forced to make an impossibly difficult decision between her two true loves. 💥💥💥

I liked the dilemma. I myself had a hard time choosing who was more deserving and definitely identified with the heroine. Unlike similar books I've read, I especially liked that the author didn't make life easy for us regarding the right choice between the two man. ❤️🩹
However, there were many parts in the story that were farfetched and made no sense… for example, Jesse's lost time – he was alone for 3 years, yet came back quite sane (not to mention in excellent physical condition 💪), so the superficial treatment of this whole complex situation really bothered me. 🙈

All in all, it was a touching read, tense and full of emotion. Although it was a bit superficial (mainly the male characters) compared to Evelyn Hugo's book, but I definitely recommend it if you like angsty drama books. ❤️🩹

התאהבתי בכתיבה של הסופרת אחרי שקראתי את "שבעת הבעלים של אוולין הוגו", אז כששמעתי שבקרוב ייצא סרט שמבוסס על הספר הזה, מיהרתי להתחיל אותו, עם המון ציפיות כמובן. 💥
אמה וג'סי, חברי ילדות נשואים, ביחד כבר כמעט עשור. אבל בערב יום הנישואים שלהם, הוא נהרג בהתרסקות מסוק וגופתו לא נמצאה. ❤️🩹
הרוסה ושבורת לב, אמה מנסה להמשיך בחייה, וכך מתחברת לחבר ילדות נוסף שלה, סם, והם מתאהבים. 😍
ואז, שלוש וחצי שנים אחרי, כאשר אמה וסם מאורסים, ג'סי חוזר פתאום ואמה נאלצת לקבל החלטה קשה עד בלתי אפשרית, בין שתי אהבות האמת שלה. 💥💥💥

אהבתי את הדילמה. אני בעצמי מאוד התקשיתי לבחור מי יותר ראוי ובהחלט הזדהיתי מאוד עם הקושי של הגיבורה. בניגוד לספרים דומים שקראתי בעבר, אהבתי שהסופרת לא עשתה לנו חיים קלים בנוגע לבחירה בין שניהם. ❤️🩹
עם זאת, היו הרבה חלקים בסיפור שהיו מופרכים ולא הגיוניים… למשל, הזמן האבוד של ג'סי – הוא שהה לבדו במשך 3 שנים, ובכל זאת חזר דיי שפוי (שלא לדבר על מצבו הגופני המעולה 💪), לכן התבאסתי מההתייחסות השטחית של הסופרת לכל הסיטואציה המורכבת הזו. 🙈

לסיכום, זו הייתה קריאה מותחת ומלאה ברגש. אמנם הוא היה דיי שטחי (בעיקר הדמויות הגבריות) בהשוואה לספר של אוולין הוגו, בו הכל היה מהודק ומוסבר, אבל אני בהחלט ממליצה עליו אם אתם אוהבים ספרים עם דרמה מורכבת. ❤️🩹

• הקשבתי לספר באודיו באנגלית, שבוצע בצורה נפלאה.
