We gave our favorite authors a questionnaire with 10 questions we really wanted to know… And they spilled everything! (Sort of 😂)

We are so excited to have you in our 'Ask our favorite author' questionnaire!

Ella: Heyyy! Thank you so much for asking me! 

1.Share something your readers wouldn’t know about you.
I have a super dry––often way inappropriate––sense of humor. It’s not for everyone, and so I don’t show too much of it in my work life. I laugh at nearly everything. I’m also a big believer in listening to the universe. Basically, the way my body reacts to certain things, my dreams, signs no matter how stupid, and vibes. Might sound crazy, and I totally am, but there hasn’t been many occasions where I’ve been wrong to do so. Karma, too. Yikes.

2. Describe a normal working day – how many hours a day do you write? Where is your favorite place to write?
I’m a terrible morning person but I hate sleeping in. Go figure. So I struggle to get much done until my kids are off to school and I’m caffeinated, caught up with friends, emails, and sometimes social media. I’ll write 5-6 hours a day while my kids are at school. I try to only work five days a week unless I’m running behind. 
It used to be my recliner or bed. Now, I’ve got an office and even though I’ve had it for quite a while, I’m finally using it. Working at my desk and using a decent chair has helped tremendously health wise. I feel less achy/stiff and burned out by the end of the day. I also love being able to see my many post-it’s on the wall in front of me and my numerous whiteboards. 

3. Who are your go to authors?
I’m fussy, so I often have favorite authors that might release something I end up skipping. Authors I’ll read anything by are Naomi Novik, Taylor Jenkins Reid and Sarah J. Maas. 

4. If one of your books could become a movie – which one would you choose?
GAH! Hard. Um, I want to say A King So Cold because seeing that world brought to life, and Audra, would be seriously incredible. But I think Kiss and Break Up or Bloodstained Beauty would be more market friendly. (yes, even though so and so is a murderer. LOL)

5. How do you choose your covers?
I think about certain things from the stories and then I work out which piece would be most likely to draw someone’s eye and/or hopefully intrigue them. I then email my designer my ramblings. She’s insanely talented. 

6. If you didn’t write, what would you do for a living?
I’d most definitely own a bookstore or work in one. 

7. Which subject you'd never write about? What do you consider taboo?
I donut like the word ‘never’. Except for that Taylor Swift song. Years later, and I still love that freaking song.

8. The last book translated into Hebrew was "Bloodstained Beauty". If you need to choose, which one should be the next to be translated?
It makes me so happy to see it in Hebrew! Thank you! I’d have to pick my next release, Evil Love. 

9. Do you read your book reviews? How do you deal with bad or good ones?
Honestly, besides the reviews from members on my team, I don’t tend to read them. Good or bad, they took the time to purchase and read me, and so I appreciate them all the same. 

10. Finally, Tell us about your future projects – What can you share about them?
Evil Love is a return to steamy new adult romance. Only this time it’s edgier, a little darker and more intense with that same squeeze-your-kindle-angst you can always expect from me.

בישראל, הספר שלה "יופי מוכתם בדם" תורגם לעברית ע"י הוצאת 'ידיעות ספרים' וזכה לביקורות נלהבות.

אלה: היי!!! תודה רבה לכן שפניתן אליי.

1. שתפי אותנו במשהו שהקוראים שלך לא יודעים עלייך.
יש לי חוש הומור דיי יבש (לעיתים לא נאות בכלל) – זה לא מתאים לכל אחד , אז בעבודה אני לא כל-כך מראה את זה. אני צוחקת כמעט על הכל. אני גם מאמינה גדולה ב-להקשיב ליקום. בעיקרון, הדרך שבא הגוף שלי מגיב לדברים מסויימים, החלומות שלי, סימנים שלא משנה עד כמה הם טיפשיים ותחושתיים. זה אולי נשמע משוגע ואני לגמרי כזאת, אבל לא קרה לי הרבה פעמיים שטעיתי. וגם קראמה. Yikes!

2. תארי לנו יום עבודה רגיל – כמה שעות ביום את כותבת? מה המקום הכי אהוב לכתוב?
אני לא בן אדם של בוקר אבל שונאת לישון עד מאוחר, לכו תבינו. אז אני מתקשה להספיק לעשות משהו עד שהילדים שלי בבתי הספר ואני אחריי מנה של קפה, עידכונים עם חברות, אימיילים ולפעמים מדיה חברתית. אני כותבת 5-6 שעות ביום בזמן שהילדים שלי בביה"ס. אני משתדלת לעבוד רק 5 ימים בשבוע, אלא אם כן אני מאחרת בלוחות הזמנים.
בעבר, הייתי כותבת במיטה או על כורסה. עכשיו יש לי משרד ולמרות שיש לי אותו כבר הרבה זמן, אני סוף סוף משתמשת בו. לעבוד על שולחן עבודה ולשבת על כיסא טוב, עזר רבות מבחינה בריאותית. אני מרגישה פחות כאובה/נוקשה ועייפה בסוף היום. אני גם מאד אוהבת לראות את מולי את כל הפתיקיות על הקיר ואת הלוחות המחיקים שלי.

3. מיהם הסופרים האהובים עליך?
אני בררנית, אז לעיתים קרובות מדלגת על ספרים חדשים שיצאו לסופרים אהובים.
סופרים שאני אקרא כל מה שהם מוציאים הם נעמי נוויק, טיילור ג'נקינס ריד ושרה ג'יי. מאס.

4. אם אחד מספרייך יכולה היה להפוך לסרט, איזה ספר היית בוחרת?
ואוו, קשה! אממ, הייתי רוצה להגיד "A King So Cold", לראות את העולם הזה קם לתחייה, ואודרה, יהיה ברצינות מדהים. אבל אני חושבת "Kiss And Brake Up" ו- "יופי מוכתם בדם" יהיו יותר שיווקיים. (כן, למרות ש-אההם הוא רוצח. Lol)

5. איך את בוחרת את הכריכות שלך?
אני חושבת על חלקים מסויימים מתוך הסיפורים ואז מתוך זה אני חושבת איזה חלק הכי ימשוך את העין או יסקרן את הקוראים. לאחר מכן אני שולחת במייל למעצבת שלי את כל הרישומים. היא מוכשרת בטירוף.

6. אם לא היית סופרת מה היית עושה למחייתך?
לא ספק הייתי בעלת חנות ספרים או עובדת בחנות כזו. 

7. איזה נושא לעולם לא היית כותבת? מה נחשב טאבו בעינייך?
אני לא אוהבת את המילה "לעולם לא". מלבד בשיר של טיילור סוויפט. שנים אחריי ואני עדיין אוהבת את השיר הזה.

8.הספר האחרון שתורגם לעברית היה "יופי מוכתם בדם" , אם את חייבת לבחור, איזה היית בוחר כהבא בתור לתרגום?
זה כל-כך משמח אותי לראותו אותו בעברית! תודה רבה! הייתי בוחרת את הספר הבא שלי "Evil Love".

9. האם את קוראת סקירות על הספרים שלך? כיצד את מתמודדת עם הטובות או השליליות?
האמת, שחוץ מהביקרות של חברי הצוות שלי אני לא נוטה לקרוא אותם בין אם טובות ובין אם רעות, הם השקיעו זמן לרכוש ולקרוא את הספרים שלי, אז אני מאד מעריכה את כולם באופן שווה.

10. לסיום, ספרי לנו על פרוייקטים עתידיים- מה תוכלי לשתף עליהם?
הספר "Evil Love" הוא רומן New Adult לוהט. רק שהוא יותר בועט, קצת יותר אפל והרבה יותר אינטנסיבי, עם אותה דרמה של "לשבור-את-מכשיר-הקינדל" שאתם תמיד יכולים לצפות ממני .
