It all start with a letter from a sweet 10-year-old girl to Santa Claus – in which she asks for socks without holes for her father, black olives, and… "a special friend" for her and her dad. 🎅💙✉
Sadie, who works for the magazine and is in charge of Santa's column, receives the letter and falls in love with Birdie. She feels a special connection to her – because they share a lot in common – and so, she sends her small gestures to make her happy. But then, curiosity (and a butterfly) leads Sadie straight to Birdie and her father, Sebastian Maxwell's door step… and everything changes! 💥💥💥

I really liked the idea of the story… I loved the characters… but mostly, I LOVED the connection between Sadie and Birdy – it was so sweet! 💙😭
The first half was great (the "Flunkerbsht" incident made me laugh out loud! 😂) but unfortunately, the second half was predictable – and towards the end, it all became a big Telenovela. 🙈
Plus, even though it had a lot of touching parts (that even almost made me cry), the romance felt flat and the chemistry between the characters was… just OK. Also, the solution was too convenient and a bit unrealistic. 😬
However, as always when I read books by Vi and Penelope, I found myself finishing it with a huge smile on my face. 💙💙💙

הכל התחיל במכתב מרגש של ילדה מתוקה בת 10 לסנטה קלאוס – בו היא מבקשת גרביים בלי חורים לאבא שלה, חבילת זיתים שחורים, ו… "חברה מיוחדת" עבורה ועבור אביה. 🎅💙✉
סיידי שעובדת בעיתון ואחראית על טור הבקשות של סנטה, מקבלת את המכתב ומתאהבת בבירדי הקטנה. היא מרגישה אליה חיבור מיוחד – כיוון שהן חולקות המון במשותף – ושולחת לה מחוות קטנות כדי לשמח אותה. אבל אז, סקרנות (וגם פרפר קטן) מובילים את סיידי היישר אל פתח ביתם של בירדי ואביה, סבסטיאן מקסוול… והכל משתנה! 💥💥💥

אהבתי מאוד את הרעיון של הסיפור… אהבתי את הגיבורים… ובעיקר, אהבתי את החיבור בין סיידי לבירדי – זה היה כל כך מרגש! 💙😭
החצי הראשון היה מעולה (הסצנה עם "פלאנקרבשט" הרגה אותי מצחוק! 😂) אבל לצערי, החצי השני הרגיש צפוי – ולקראת הסוף, הפך לטלנובלה תורקית. 🙈
בנוסף, למרות שהיו בו המון חלקים מרגשים (שאפילו כמעט גרמו לי לדמוע), הרומנטיקה בעלילה הרגישה שטוחה והכימיה בין הדמויות הייתה… רק בסדר. כמו כן, הפיתרון למשבר היה נוח מידי וקצת לא מציאותי. 😬
אבל כמו תמיד כאשר אני קוראת ספרים של וי ופנלופי, מצאתי את עצמי מסיימת אותו עם חיוך ענקי על הפנים. 💙💙💙
