We gave our favorite authors a questionnaire with 10 questions we really wanted to know… And they spilled everything! (Sort of 😂)

Aleatha Romig is a New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestselling author who lives in Indiana. She grew up in Mishawaka, graduated from Indiana University, and is currently living south of Indianapolis. Aleatha has raised three children with her high school sweetheart and husband of over thirty years. Before she became a full-time author, she worked days as a dental hygienist and spent her nights writing. Now, when she's not imagining mind-blowing twists and turns, she likes to spend her time a with her family and friends. Her other pastimes include reading and creating heroes/anti-heroes who haunt your dreams

We are so excited to have you in our 'Ask our favorite author' questionnaire!

1. Share something your readers wouldn’t know about you.
I'm pretty open about myself. They might not know that my husband and I were high school sweethearts and have been married for 34 years. They also may not know, I really don't like marshmallows or peanut butter. 

2. Describe a normal working day – how many hours a day do you write? Where is your favorite place to write?
I don't have a set schedule. I work easily 8-10 hours a day, but it's not all writing. I also am on social media and advertising. This author thing is a full time job and a business. I wish I could simply write. That's not the way it works. 

3. The last book translated into Hebrew was "The Light" Series (WE LOVED IT!). If you need to choose, which one should be the next to be translated?
I would either recommend the Infidelity series (not about cheating). Nox Demetri is super sexy and he and Charli's chemistry is amazing. Infidelity is a f5 book series. OR I'm very in love with my Sparrow Webs. There are multiple trilogies in Sparrow Webs. Sterling Sparrow is the kingpin of Chicago. Web of Sin: Secrets, Lies, and Promises is his story. He's ruthless, demanding, and scorching hot! Araneae is sassy with a quick wit and sharp tongue. She gives it  back to him like he's never experienced. They're perfect together. Tangled Web: Twisted, Obsessed, and Bound is Kader/Mason's story. A mercenary who is tasked with a woman who doesn't see him as a killer, but as a domineering force of nature. Their story is explosive and part of the Sparrow Web. The most recent is Web of Desire: Spark, Flame, and Ashes. That is Patrick's story. Always the voice of calm and reason in the Sparrow world, seeing Madeline knocks his world off its axis. The final trilogy, Dangerous Web is coming in late 2020. All the books center around the mafia of Chicago. I am absolutely in love with this dark and dangerous world. I would love if it could be translated for you!

4. What was your first reaction when you reached the #1 Best-selling's list??
I've never achieved #1, but I hit both USA Today and New York Times for the first time with Convicted, book 3 of Consequences and it was surreal. Hitting lists never gets old. 

5. Do you read your book reviews? How do you deal with bad or good ones?
I do…not all. I have too many books to keep up. But I do read the good and the bad. If a bad review has merit and is a critique of something I can change, I consider it. I would never change my story, but perhaps my delivery could be improved. If they are opinion, I register them as that. I can't please everyone and writing my story and staying true to my characters is why I love what I do. Good reviews…make me smile. 

6. Who are your go-to authors?
I have so many: right now I'm reading Gillian Flinn. I also love Greg Isles. For dark romance, I love Skye Warren, Pepper Winters, and Pam Godwin along with more than I can list. 

7. Which subject you'd never write about? What do you consider taboo?
As a mother, I won't write about pedophilia. I can't. I won't read it either. I have tackled the world of human trafficking, but in an abstract way. You know it's there, but I have no desire to make it sexy or appealing. It's disgusting. My Sparrow Webs have an ongoing theme of human trafficking. 

8. If one of your books could become a movie – which one would you choose?
I'll be honest, I don't think any of my books except maybe Into the Light and Away from the Dark could be a movie. My books are too detailed and layered. My Consequences series, Infidelity series (including Respect), and Sparrow Webs would make amazing series on Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, HBO, or Showtime. They have enough depth that they could go on for seasons!

9. What's the best book you've read recently?
Recently, I have two. The first was the Silent Patient. It's a thriller and it blew me away. The second was Sea of Ruin by Pam Godwin. It's a historical, pirate, standalone romance. None of those descriptors are my cup of tea. It was out of this world amazing. I would highly recommend both or either.

10. Finally, Tell us about your future projects – What can you share about them? 
Currently, I'm writing a stand alone thriller. It isn't a romance, not even a romantic thriller. It's a small town thriller where a woman returns to learn the secrets surrounding the death of someone she knew. I'm enjoying the change. I do not have any idea when it will release. I would like my agent to try to shop it. Time will tell. Then, I must write Dangerous Web, the final trilogy of Sparrow Webs. It's time for Reid and Lorna's story to be told. I can't wait!

1. שתפי משהו שקוראיך לא יודעים עליך.
אני די פתוחה לגבי עצמי. יתכן שהם לא יידעו שבעלי ואני יחד עוד מימי התיכון ונשואים כבר 34 שנים. הם אולי גם לא יודעים שאני ממש לא אוהבת מרשמלו או חמאת בוטנים.

2. תארי יום עבודה רגיל – כמה שעות ביום את כותבת? איפה המקום האהוב עליך לכתוב?
אין לי לוח זמנים מוגדר. אני עובדת בקלות 8-10 שעות ביום, אבל לא כל הזמן הזה מיועד לכתיבה. אני מתעסקת גם במדיה חברתית ופרסום. להיות סופרת זו משרה מלאה ועסק. הלוואי והייתי יכולה פשוט לכתוב. אך זה לא עובד כך.

3. הספר האחרון שתורגם לעברית היה דואט "אור וחושך" (כל כך אהבנו אותו!) – אם היית צריכה לבחור, מה הספר הבא שצריך לתרגם לעברית?
הייתי ממליצה על סדרת "Infidelity" (למרות השם שלה, היא לא על בגידות). נוקס דמטרי הוא סופר סקסי והכימיה שלו עם צ'רלי מדהימה. או – אני לגמרי מאוהבת בסדרת ה-"Sparrow Webs" שלי. יש כמה טרילוגיות בסדרת הזו- Sterling Sparrow הוא על ממלכת שיקגו וכולל את הספרים: Secrets, Lies, Promises . הוא חסר רחמים, דורש ולוהט בטירוף. אריאנה היא חצופה שנונה וחדת לשון, והוא ממש לא ציפה שהיא תעמוד מולו ללא פחד. הם מושלמים ביחד.
טרילוגיית Tangled Web כוללת את הספרים: Twisted, Obsessed, and Bound הוא סיפורו של קיידר/מייסון . שכיר חרב שמקבל משימה עם אישה שלא רואה בו כרוצח אלא ככוח שולט מהטבע. הסיפור שלהם מטורף.
הטרילוגיה האחרונה שפורסמה היא Web of Desire וכוללת את הספרים: Spark, Flame, Ashes. זהו סיפורו של פטריק. הקול הרגוע והשפוי בתוך עולם ה"ספארו", כשהוא רואה את מדלין עולמו מתהפך.

4. מה הייתה התגובה הראשונה שלך כשראית את שמך ברשימת רבי המכר?
מעולם לא הגעתי למספר 1, אבל הופעתי ברשימת רבי המכר גם ב- USA Today וגם בניו יורק טיימס בפעם הראשונה עם "הרשעה", הספר ה- 3 בסדרת ההשלכות, וזה היה סוריאליסטי. להיכנס לרשימות האלו זה תמיד מרגש.

5. האם את קוראת את הביקורות על הספרים שלך? איך מתמודדים עם הרעות או הטובות?
אני קוראת… לא הכל. יש לי יותר מדי ספרים כדי לעמוד בקצב. אבל אני כן קורא את הטוב והרע. אם לביקורת גרועה יש יתרון והיא ביקורת על משהו שאני יכולה לשנות, אני שוקלת אותו. לעולם לא הייתי משנה את הסיפור שלי, אבל אולי ניתן לשפר את ההובלה. אם הם דעה, אני מתייחסת אליהם ככאלו. אני לא יכולה לרצות את כולם ולכתוב את הסיפור שלי ולהישאר נאמנה לדמויות שלי זו הסיבה שאני אוהבת את מה שאני עושה. ביקורות טובות… גורמות לי לחייך.

6. מיהן הסופרות האהובות עליך?
יש לי כל כך הרבה: כרגע אני קוראת את ג'יליאן פלין. אני אוהבת גם את גרג איירס שכותב רומנטיקה אפלה, אני אוהבת את סקיי וורן, פפר ווינטרס ואת פאם גודווין, ביחד עם יותר ממה שאני יכולה לכתוב.

7. על איזה נושא לעולם לא היית כותבת? מה את מחשיבה כטאבו?
כאימא, אני לא אכתוב על פדופיליה. אני לא יכולה. אני גם לא אקרא את זה. התמודדתי עם עולם הסחר בבני אדם, אך בצורה מופשטת. אתה יודע שהוא שם, אבל אין לי שום רצון להפוך את זה לסקסי או מושך. זה מגעיל. בסדרה שלי "Sparrow Webs" יש התייחסות לנושא של סחר בבני אדם.

8. אם אחד הספרים שלך יכול היה להפוך לסרט – באיזה ספר היית בוחרת?
אני אהיה כנה, אני לא חושבת שאף אחד מהספרים שלי למעט אולי דואט "אור וחושך" יכול היה להפוך לסרט. הספרים שלי מפורטים ושכבתיים מדי. סדרות ההשלכות שלי, סדרת "Infidelity" (כולל Respect) ו- "Sparrow Webs" היו יכולות להפוך לסדרות מדהימות בנטפליקס, אמזון, הולו, HBO או שואוטיים. יש בהם מספיק עומק כדי שיוכלו להחזיק כמה עונות!

9. מה הספר הטוב ביותר שקראת לאחרונה?
לאחרונה יש שניים. הראשון הוא "המטופלת השקטה". הוא מותחן שהדהים אותי לגמרי. השני היה Sea of Ruin של פאם גודווין. הוא רומן היסטורי, פיראטי, ספר בודד. אף אחד מהם אינו כוס התה שלי. הם היו לגמרי מדהימים. אני ממליצה בחום על שניהם או על אחד מהם.

10. לסיום, ספרי לנו על הפרויקטים העתידיים שלך – מה את יכולה לשתף לגביהם?
נכון לעכשיו אני כותבת מותחן כספר יחיד. זו לא רומנטיקה, אפילו לא מותחן רומנטי. זהו מותחן על עיירה קטנה בו אישה חוזרת לגלות את הסודות סביב מותו של מישהו שהכירה. אני נהנית מהשינוי. אין לי מושג מתי הוא יפורסם. הזמן יגיד. ואז, עלי לכתוב את Web Dangerous, הספר האחרון בטרילוגיית Sparrow Webs. הגיע הזמן לספר את סיפורם של ריד ולורנה. אני לא יכולה לחכות!
